Our Standards
‘Children reach above average standards. Gifted and talented pupils are supported well. Good teaching and rigorous assessment and tracking of pupils’ progress and the pupils’ enjoyment of school contributes significantly to this success’ September 2006 OFSTED report.
As an infant school our emphasis is on developing confidence and expertise in English and mathematics and the children achieve excellent results; an outstanding number of our pupils achieve above expected standards for their age by the end of the Key Stage.
We also pride ourselves on providing an all-round education and high quality teaching and learning in all areas of the curriculum. Our rich curriculum is brought to life through active learning, visits, role play and outdoor learning including understanding our past and where we live. We also have a very strong and successful music, sports and arts curriculum.
Our Learners
We also pride ourselves on providing an all-round education and high quality teaching and learning in all areas of the curriculum. Our rich curriculum is brought to life through active learning, visits, role play and outdoor learning including understanding our past and where we live. We also have a very strong and successful music, sports and arts curriculum. Our emphasis on outdoor learning enables children to work on projects in a larger scale and to be physically active and exuberant.
Our Team
We have an excellent team of teachers, learning support assistants and support staff. The teachers and learning support assistants are experts in the infant age range and are fully committed to our school ethos of excellence. They are dedicated to meeting the needs of each individual child.
Partnership with Parents
From the outset our partnership with parents is carefully nurtured as it is vital to each child’s success. We encourage parents to take advantage of the many opportunities to become involved with their child’s education. We provide information and guidance to enable you to support your child’s learning at home.
Communication
Communication is thus a high priority and you are always welcome to discuss your child’s academic and social progress and attainment. We have annual curriculum evenings, termly parent meetings and reports on progress and attainment twice a year. We also have an ‘open door’ policy where parents can talk to staff when they need to.
Governors
Our school governors are active partners in all aspects of school life and this contributes to the children’s continued success and enjoyment of school.
Facilities
We are proud of our excellent facilities for learning including a quiet environment set back from the road with an extensive field for sports and a woodland area for science, art and creative writing activities. We have a dedicated playground for Early Years children, a large fully equipped hall and a music room. The school is also bordered by a swimming pool enabling us to enrich the children’s experiences further through weekly swimming lessons. We are committed to investing in the constant improvement of our learning environment. Our latest developments, our new ICT suite and outdoor learning areas are a further source of pride enabling us to provide the best environment for learning across the whole curriculum.
